Here’s an early bespoke piece back in for a service

Here’s a flashback to a piece I made when I first started out. This chunky Amazonite “pocket stone” came from a local rock shop. I loved the colour and felt there was a better destination than a deep dark pocket for this one.

Obsessed with colourful gems I selected 11 strands of mixed size gemstone beads including aquamarine, moonstone and delicate rose quartz. The soft colours and small size beads lend a delicate air to this substantial neckpiece – a perfect fit for the petite person who commissioned it.

Besides the challenge of making an irregular bezel to hold the gem, the large scale of the clasp cried out for a decorative back and a clever solution for attaching all of those beads. The customer selected this hand pierced design which is loosely inspired by delicate spring flowers.

I really enjoyed seeing this piece again and grabbed a few snaps while it was in our studio. After a little TLC it is now on its way back to it’s owner.
